What does VLT mean?

VLT stands for Visible Light Transmission. It tells us how much visible light passes through your glass. A higher VLT number means the glass is lighter, while a lower number means it is darker. For example, 75% VLT means that 75% of visible light passes through.

Your windscreen already blocks some light from the factory, so we measure it before fitting any Chameleon film. We make sure the final combined reading of the glass and film is at least 75% VLT, keeping your windscreen within the UK legal limit. After fitting, we measure it again and provide you with a compliance certificate.

The VLT shown is the film’s own rating—not the final reading on your car. Not every film is suitable for every windscreen, which is why we measure and test before fitting.

04 — Expect variation

Never exactly
the same twice.

Chameleon film is colour-shifting rather than a flat painted colour. Its appearance changes naturally throughout the day.

01Cloudy weather can bring out the strongest colours.
02Bright sunshine can make the colour effect more subtle.
03Weather significantly alters the appearance of chameleon front windscreens because the film’s multi-layered structure reacts directly to changing ambient light, sky conditions and temperatures.
